Sylvia Hsueh-O Tsai was born on January 14, 1948 in Chai-Yi, Taiwan. She is the second oldest child in her family, with four sisters and two brothers. She graduated from college in Taiwan before moving to California. Sylvia had been a resident of Torrance, California for 24 years. She had worked for Sunrider International in Torrance, California for 14 years.
She was born in the Year of the Pig, according to the Chinese lunar calendar. She nicknamed herself, Oink Piggy and she was known to her children as Mommy Piggy.
Sylvia always found time for her community. She was a teacher for the Torrance Chinese School, touching the lives of so many students, parents and fellow teachers. She always found time for her childrens activities, ranging from swim team and choir performances to her childrens school activities.
She had battled lung cancer since May of 2000. She had been a true fighter, charged with optimism, energy and resilience. Her persevering attitude and loving disposition had always given her family and friends so much pride and hope.
She was always a very active person with a love for sports. She even ran in a 5K race on December 7, 2002 with Vanessa and Kyle.
Sylvia is survived by her three children; Vanessa, Fiona and Kyle. She lived her life for her children, proudly sharing their updates with her friends and co-workers who surrounded her. She loved her friends like family and brought happiness to everyone whom she encountered. She had touched every person that she had met in her life. She will always remain alive in our hearts. We will forever love you, our Piggy Sylvia!!!
