Patrick O’Donovan
Born November 25, 1916, Los Angeles, California
Entered into Rest July 10, 2006, Long Beach, California

Patrick J. “Pat” O’Donovan passed away peacefully on July 10, surrounded by his loved ones. Born into a large Irish-American family, he was raised in Los Angeles, and graduated from Lincoln High. In 1941, he met the love of his life, Bettie, with whom he happily spent the next sixty-five years. When World War II broke out, he volunteered for the navy and served honorably in the South Pacific. After the war, he worked for the Home Builders’ Association, and the Beavers, helping to raise two children along the way, eventually retiring. Retirement afforded him the leisure to travel, a lifelong enthusiasm he shared with Bettie. He is survived by Bettie, his son Michael, his daughter Terry, his daughter-in-law Becca, sisters Julie and Nell, brother Andy, and many nieces and nephews.
Pat O’Donovan was loved and admired by those around him; he did everything asked of him in his long, happy life—he proudly served his country, he provided for his family, he loved animals, he was the most steadfast of friends. It would be difficult to imagine a life better lived.
