Harold Story was born in Luverne, Minnesota on September 12, 1912, where he finished his seventh grade education, later moving to Sioux Falls. He was the last of a family of 15; three half-sisters and six half-brothers; three full-sisters and two full brothers. He had grown up with his wife of 67 years before she passed away in 1998. They together are survived by two daughters, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He worked as a carrier for the Western Union until he moved his family out to California in the early 1940’s settling in Santa Ana. There he worked in the office of the Western Union part time, and full time in Garcia Mitchel Fishing Rods in Costa Mesa, where he retired at the age of 62.
He has been under assisted care since 1997 with Parkinson's Disease. His death was slow but peaceful for him.
Memorial services will be held at Saturday, April 5, 2003, 11.00 a.m. at 2770 W. Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim, California. Any information can be obtained via e-mail.
